Marc E. Seyburn, Esq. (“Marc”) is a highly experienced attorney with more than twenty-five years of practice, distinguished by a rare and powerful combination of legal and financial expertise. He holds degrees in both law and taxation accounting, allowing him to approach complex legal matters with a depth of insight that integrates legal strategy, tax efficiency, and long-term planning.
Marc’s practice is centered on structural planning and transactional design, with a strong emphasis on flow-through taxation, estate planning, cash-flow modeling, and the analysis and structuring of investment opportunities. He advises clients across a wide range of industries, helping them navigate complex regulatory and tax environments while building durable, tax-efficient legal structures.
Throughout his career, Marc has worked closely with entrepreneurs and business owners at every stage of growth—from capital formation and business formation, through operations and expansion, and ultimately to strategic exits. His primary tax expertise lies in flow-through taxation, particularly partnership taxation, and in the design of estate plans that maintain a lifetime focus on both income tax minimization and estate tax efficiency.
Marc has also developed specialized expertise in aviation transactions, particularly private jet acquisitions. In this niche area, he integrates FAA regulatory compliance with IRS tax rules to maximize operational and tax efficiencies for clients. This highly technical experience laid the groundwork for another significant specialty: advising clients in the marijuana industry, where Marc skillfully integrates federal tax authority with evolving state and local licensing laws. Beginning in 2018, he became a trusted advisor to cannabis entrepreneurs, helping them structure compliant, tax-aware business operations in a highly regulated space.
In addition, Marc was a pioneer in the use of Michigan’s Film and Digital Media Incentive program, successfully securing state incentives for innovative digital projects. His work resulted in the only state-approved incentives awarded for digital applications, including motion comics, interactive websites, and a console game—demonstrating his ability to apply complex statutory frameworks to emerging industries.
Marc’s depth of experience directly defines and strengthens Seyburn Law’s practice in taxation law, corporate law, and estate planning. His ability to integrate sophisticated tax planning with business structuring and estate design allows the firm to deliver comprehensive, forward-looking legal solutions. Clients rely on Marc for strategic guidance that aligns legal structure, tax efficiency, and long-term financial objectives in an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.
